Chapter Four

The afternoon sun streaming in her face woke Abby from a deep sleep. The damn dream again. She lay there repeating it over and over in her mind. One word. Awaken.

How the hell was she supposed to know what that meant? The voice in her head had turned relentless despite the dreams of Caleb that had captivated her. His attention to pleasure amazed her so much so… Her eyes popped open. He had bitten her. Her hand flew to the spot on her neck and felt for a sign it had been more than a dream. Nothing. But it had all seemed so real. There had been a brief moment of sharp pain followed by a rush of fiery pleasure that consumed her. Abby gasped at the memory as her sex tightened and her breasts ached all over again. Lust and hunger swept through her. She needed…

Abby rolled to the opposite side of the bed and landed on the cold empty spot where Caleb should have been. It only took her a split second to realize that he’d once again left her in the night. Almost a week of nightly mind blowing sex and he still left every morning before she woke. So strange.

Stretching her arms and legs, she reveled in the complete soreness and satisfaction of her body. She'd never considered a man could last that long or that many times, for that matter. But Caleb's hunger for her was insatiable, and she loved every minute of it.

Right now though, she desperately needed caffeine. She eased off the bed and sought her robe and slippers. As she headed toward the kitchen, the aroma of her desperate craving hit her square in the gut. Caleb was a coffee god and brewing some right now. She walked through the door with a silly smile plastered across her face, thrilled he had finally stayed for a morning after and there was coffee involved. She stopped short. The room was empty. But her coffee maker percolated with a piece of paper propped against it. With heavy steps she moved closer and picked up the scrawled note.

I set the timer on the coffee maker, thinking you might appreciate some when you woke this afternoon. Last night was incredible. I’ll see you tonight at the club.

Abby rolled her eyes. Well, a note was an improvement. She poured herself a steaming cup of java and settled in at the breakfast bar with the morning paper he'd also left waiting for her. She made repeated attempts to read the headlines but couldn't stop thinking about her dream and what it was supposed to mean. She'd thought about taking off days ago, but every night Caleb had come to her, and she found his lust and hunger impossible to resist. They aligned so well together she'd finally decided to quit fighting it and see where it went. At the very least, she deserved a shot at happiness. Setting her cup on the bar, she spied the white envelope peeking out from under a stack of unopened mail.
